Shakespeare at Pendley Manor

Shakespeare at Pendley Manor

August 5th - August 15th 2009

The first Pendley Shakespeare festival took place way back in 1947 by showjumping commentator Dorian Williams. Pendley Manor was the Williams' family home at the time and Dorian himself remained actively involved in the festivals until 1983.

Now, everything is set for the 60th festival which runs from the 4th of August. The 4th to the 8th of August will see performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream before Macbeth takes over and runs between the 11th and the 15th. The 60th anniversary was marked by Linda Bellingham who herself performed at Pendley as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream in 1966

Both plays promise to provide extravagant costumes, vibrant set designs and lots of fun. The beautiful grounds of the Hotel will open at 6pm, so there will be time enough to enjoy a picnic or why not treat yourself to a pre-show meal in the award-winning restaurant?

Tickets are currently available for all performances priced between £14.50 and £23.00. Pendley Manor are also running special dining promotions during the festival.
