Support your local butcher!

It's true - we do take our independent butchers for granted and most of us continue to buy at the supermarkets and expect our butchers to survive.

It a fact that in most respects you do tend to pay a little more at an independent retailers but this isn't always the case. What is true is that the quality of the products at an outlet such as G S Pickett is generally far superior. We buy regularly from here - most recently we purchased the most meaty of Cumberland sausages and mince that displays not a trace of fat when cooked.

You will find a broad range of meats here including some different flavour sausages and some chicken breasts with a choice of marinades. If you can't find what you want then they will always order something in. We regularly order in some wonderful venison steaks which average out at around £3.00 each and at Christmas we treated ourselves to a whole haunch.

Aside from meat that there is a suprisingly good selection of cheeses together with pickles and sauces.

Staff here are extremely knowledgeable from the most senior to the most junior. Now doesn't that make a nice change from calling into your local supermarket and being met with a blank stare when you ask for anything more than a pound of chipolatas?
